Steps to Achieve Fulfillment in Your Professional Life & Career

In a career oriented world, it can often feel overwhelming to balance your personal well-being and professional development. We have comprised some tips to manage this and ensure you wake up with a sense of direction and accomplishment before heading to work.

In order to achieve professional fulfillment, you must decide the following:

What are your career goals? Do you have any professional aspirations?

Sit down and write a list of all the things you want to achieve in your career and even on a daily basis at work.

Ask yourself questions to help focus & guide you to realising these dreams.

  • What extracurricular activities are you engaging in?
  • What activities do you genuinely enjoy doing and are good at? Usually when we enjoy doing something, it comes naturally that we are also good at this.
  • Consider types of roles you enjoy & feel comfortable doing.

Set yourself a loose timeline.

What you want to accomplish by the time you are 30, 40, etc.

Define your career and professional goals.

  • What specific skills you want to acquire?
  • What position or level do you want to reach?
  • What remuneration do you need for the lifestyle you would like to have?

You also need to understand what personality type you are and your approach to work. After you discover what category you fall into, it may make the above questions easier to answer.

  1. Laterally Position Driven.
These types of employees are interested in their current position; go to work and clock their 8 hours.
Close to the end of the working day, they check the clock and plan what they are going to do in the evening.
They are not fully committed to work, and it’s more about the money and are happy to continue doing their current job without striving for a higher role within the company.
  2. Highly Career Driven.
People who are interested in their career tend to be more ambitious, they will make an effort to advance within their organisation or even move to a better one. They seek appreciation through rewards, monetary compensation & prestige. They are driven, work hard and generally like to accomplish a lot.
  3. Calling Driven.
These types of employees are interested in a type of career calling, the fundamental values of the work they are doing is important to them. They like to provide a service to the general public or a type of market.
They want to achieve excellence in their field, whatever that may be, and strive to build an institution.
